Damage to Travel Trailer

If the travel trailer is returned with damage while the trailer was in possession of the Customer, the Customer is responsible to pay all damage costs whether the Customer was at fault or not (including, but not limited to damage caused by acts of nature i.e. wind, rain, earthquake, fire, flood, etc.). If an accident occurs, the Customer is responsible for obtaining a police report, contacting the Customer’s automobile liability insurance company and contacting Hardtent immediately at 1-800-505-6955. Hardtent will estimate the damage.

Delivery and Return of Travel Trailer

Deliveries and return of the travel trailer can be scheduled any day of the week, between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.  The delivery and return locations will ordinarily be the Customer’s home or office, but are at the discretion of Hardtent.  Returns scheduled after 7:00 p.m. on the scheduled day of return will result in a charge of an additional rental day for each 24 hour period beyond the previously scheduled return time.  So that we may offer flexible delivery and return times, please give us four hours notice if you will need to change your scheduled return time.

At delivery, the Customer must present his or her driver’s license (with photo), credit card in the name of the Customer used to pay for the rental, and current insurance information showing that the tow vehicle is insured.

A familiarization tour (approximately 30 minutes to one hour) is required to acquaint the Customer with the operation of the travel trailer before departure.

The Customer agrees that he or she will return unit in the same condition as he received it.  A fee of up to $250 will be charged if the interior of the travel trailer has not been cleaned. Porta pottis must be emptied and rinsed prior to return of the travel trailer or be subject to a dump charge of $250.

The security deposit will be charged to the credit card on the day of delivery.  Damages or loss of equipment will be paid for by the Customer as listed in the Price Schedule.

Dry Camping

Dry camping (where the travel trailer is not connected to a continuous source of electricity; also known as “boondocking” or camping without shore power) is not advised because the travel trailer battery will likely fail within a short period of time.  No reimbursements will be given for problems occurring while the Customer is dry camping.

Fuel Information

No warranties are made concerning fuel mileage.  We assume no liability for fuel consumption rates. All propane refueling during the trip is at the Customer's expense.

General Conditions

Rental prices, policies, terms and conditions are subject to change without notice.  The travel trailer remains the property of Hardtent, although registered title may be in the name of a third-party.  The Customer agrees to indemnify and hold Hardtent harmless of, from, and against any and all loss, costs, damages, attorneys fees and/or liability in connection with this Rental Agreement.  The Customer agrees that venue of any action hereunder is in Marin County, California.  Rentals are subject to the Terms and Conditions of the Rental Agreement, a copy of which is available by writing to Hardtent, P.O. Box 472, Corte Madera, CA  94976. The terms of the Rental Agreement cannot be modified except in writing by the Customer and Hardtent.

Maintenance, Breakdown & Loss Responsibility

If you experience mechanical problems or have equipment operation questions you should refer to the T@B Operation Instructions provided to you at the time of rental and/or call Hardtent at 1-800-505-6955.  The Customer must call Hardtent for assistance with all mechanical concerns and must report mechanical failures immediately. Mechanical failures will be handled on a case-by-case basis.  Continued use of the travel trailer after discovery of a mechanical failure will be at the Customer’s own risk and the Customer assumes the liabilities of injury and damage to third persons.  No reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses will be paid without written authorization from Hardtent.

The Customer is responsible for ensuring that the trailer is properly hitched to the Customer’s vehicle.

The Customer may be held responsible for mechanical damage due to negligence in travel trailer operation or failure to provide normal maintenance.

If the travel trailer is stolen, the Customer shall immediately report its loss to the local police authorities and to Hardtent.

No Smoking

Smoking is not permitted inside the travel trailers.

Parking and Traffic Violations

The Customer is responsible for reporting and payment of all parking and traffic violations at rental termination. Non-reporting of parking and traffic violations breaches the Rental Agreement and may result in an administrative charge of up to $100 in addition to payment of the fines by the Customer.  The Customer shall hold Hardtent harmless from any and all fines, forfeitures and penalties arising out of any violation of law by the Customer.

Payment and Cancellation

At the time of reservation, the total rental amount is due and payable by credit card (MasterCard, Visa or American Express).

Should the Customer wish to modify or cancel his or her reservation, he or she may do so without penalty by notifying Hardtent up to 24 hours prior to the scheduled date of delivery.  If the notification of cancellation takes place less than 24 hours prior to the scheduled date of delivery, the rental amount will be credited less $150.  After payment of the total rental amount, reservation dates may be modified only in Hardtent’s sole discretion.  There is no refund for early return of the travel trailer.  Extension of the Customer’s reservation period must be authorized by Hardtent.  Rental charges are based upon the amounts stated on the Reservation Confirmation. Each night constitutes a “rental day.”

Pets

Pets are welcome.  The Customer agrees to clean up after their pet and return the travel trailer in the same condition as received or be subject to a pet cleaning fee of up to $250.  The cost of the repair of damage to the travel trailer caused by pets will be chargeable to the Customer per “Damage to the Travel Trailer” section above.

Rental Requirements & Insurance

The Customer must be a qualified driver 21 years of age or older possessing a valid and identifiable driver's license with photo. A major credit card and references, employment, or a foreign passport may be required as identification prior to rental and will be verified. All drivers must be listed on and sign the Rental Agreement and will be bound by Terms and Conditions of the Rental Agreement at the time of travel trailer delivery.

The Customer must have adequate automobile liability insurance in Hardtent’s sole discretion.  It is the Customer’s responsibility to contact their automobile insurance company and confirm that their automobile liability insurance will cover the travel trailer.  The Customer must provide written verification of trailer coverage at the time of delivery.

The Customer’s vehicle must be adequate for towing the rental travel trailer in Hardtent’s sole discretion.  The Customer’s vehicle must be fitted with a frame-mounted Class II, III or IV hitch and a 2” ball, ball mount and ball mount pin, with the ball positioned between 17 and 21” from the ground.  The Customer’s vehicle must be fitted with a 7-pin circular wire harness connector.  Hardtent is not responsible for any damage to the Customer’s vehicle.

The Customer must be able to hitch the travel trailer to his or her tow vehicle without assistance from Hardtent.

Security Deposit

A minimum security deposit of $1000 is due and payable on the day of delivery by credit card.  Upon pickup, all extra charges, if any, are balanced against the security deposit and a credit or check will be issued to cover any refund.

Storage

Storing items on travel trailer roof or exteriors is not permitted.  Storing generators or gasoline in the camper is not permitted.

USA Travel Only; Alaska, Yukon and Northwest Territories

Travel trailers are restricted from operation outside of the United States unless explicitly stated in the Rental Agreement.  Travel trailers are allowed to be towed to Alaska, Yukon, and Northwest Territories. Travel in Newfoundland on Dalton or Dempster Highways and other selected highways is prohibited under all conditions for all travel trailers. Travel may be authorized to Mexico with written authorization from Hardtent and purchase of appropriate insurance coverage.

Weather Conditions

During the winter months, we do not recommend that you travel to or through snow areas, or areas where snow chains are required.
